Springboard Opera: Pioneering New Horizons in Opera

Hi everyone! Don here, chair of the Springboard Opera Board. A few years back, we had a vision to create a new opera company in Brisbane, aimed at providing a viable career path for our local opera graduates. That vision has brought us to where we are today.

On June 29, 2024, we launched Springboard Opera with a gala at The Little Laneway in Burnett Lane, Brisbane. This event celebrated our mission with captivating performances and distinguished guests, marking the start of a new era in opera for Brisbane.

Springboard Opera is all about transforming the traditional concept of opera. We aim to create opportunities for emerging artists to perform in unconventional spaces, break down barriers and bring opera to new and broader audiences. Imagine flash-mob opera in bars at 5 pm, and low-cost Barefoot Opera in community spaces. We create intimate and engaging cultural experiences by bringing opera into the community.

We're committed to regular auditions, providing mentorship, performance opportunities, and professional development to support young singers. This helps them build viable career paths right here in Brisbane. What sets us apart is our dedication to innovation across all aspects of the organization. This forward-thinking approach ensures that every aspect of our work embodies innovation, making opera accessible and engaging for everyone.

Community engagement is at the heart of Springboard Opera. Our Friends of Springboard program invites opera enthusiasts to support us through donations and partnerships, helping sustain our mission and expand our reach. Upcoming events promise to be cultural highlights. To stay informed, sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Join us in our mission to create a more inclusive and innovative future for opera today. Get in touch via info@springboardopera.com.au or through any of our socials. Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey.
